Highlander Events

Here is a list of our past 7 Point highlander events. Tournament organisers and community representatives have worked hard to collect and submit the Top 8 placings from their local highlander events. Typically collecting a digital deck list from each of their top players. If you want to show your event results and give a short description of your 7 point highlander event, you can submit a Tournament Report here.

QLD: Good Games Gold Coast 7PH 20/03/2021 | Deck Lists & Tournament Report

After a two hour drive, I walked through the doors at Good Games Gold Coast for their first competitive 7 Point event and was greeted with a mural on the back wall of the words “Greatness at any cost” – an adage I would have to take to heart in this event. This was written from my brief notes and memory, I might mix up Ancient Tomb and City of Traitors or which of my lords I had, if anyone notices any errors please let me know. I have been playing around with UW Stax (Blue Dune) and Temur Tempo… Read More »QLD: Good Games Gold Coast 7PH 20/03/2021 | Deck Lists & Tournament Report

WA: Good Games Morely Fortnightly (14 Players Non Proxy) 14/03/2021 | Deck Lists & Tournament Report

A smaller field for the highlander sunday with people getting cyber hacked, working, car malfunctions, house moving, going to parties among other unfortunate events leading to a smaller turnout. Despite many regulars out of action, king lukey williams among the star-studded absentee line up #pointweekendwork, the field was healthy with the following spread: 2x Jund midrange, Grixis Oracle (yours truly), Bant Time Vault, goblins, Junk, UW Miracles, Rug Recall, Big red Clifford, Esper Tempo, Bug Oracle, Omnath Pod Walk, RUG tempo and trusty blue tinker. The event structure was 5 rounds with a cut to the top 4. top 4… Read More »WA: Good Games Morely Fortnightly (14 Players Non Proxy) 14/03/2021 | Deck Lists & Tournament Report

VIC: Geelong Highlander Free Entry 06/03/2021 | Deck Lists & Tournament Report

Hey guys, we just had Geelongs first ever Highlander tournament on the long weekend (non proxy), organised by myself and Mulch and sponsored by both of us too (and Manticore Entertainment which its Matt and Tom Koenig’s little company that just published their first board game). We had 11 players, Entry was FREE and we had an Academy Rector for first prize, a Mana Crypt for second prize and 3rd and 4th was a Bonecrusher Giant. There was also a door prize (a copy of Manticore Entertainments Voyage Home: An Odyssey board game, and a set of Voyage Home magnets)… Read More »VIC: Geelong Highlander Free Entry 06/03/2021 | Deck Lists & Tournament Report

WA: Good Games Morely Fortnightly (20 Players Non Proxy) 28/02/2021 | Deck Lists & Tournament Report

Good Games Morely is back into regular swing with a brief hiatus from Kaldhiem shipping delays taking priority over 7PH and a small turnout on Valentines Day. 20 Players was good to see in a very mixed field that featured a burn pilot, two Naya Zoo players and two fresh moxen featuring in Jund goblins and Jund Midrange. The field was set with 4x Kess Pod variants (1 omnath walk pod), 3x UWx Control/Miracles, 2x Jund Midrange, 2x Mardu Midrange, 2x Naya Zoo, 1x Abzan Midrange, 1x Jund Goblins, 1x Bant Time Vault, 1x Mono U Tinker, 1x Mono-R Burn… Read More »WA: Good Games Morely Fortnightly (20 Players Non Proxy) 28/02/2021 | Deck Lists & Tournament Report

QLD: 7-Point Highlander Tournament Toowoomba Battlestation (33 Players) 20/02/2021 | Deck Lists & Tournament Report

I wanted to build upon the “Slush Puppy” combo/control deck that I theory-crafted and piloted to a Top 8 finish in the previous Toowoomba Battlestation event. I feel that the package of Intution/Gifts Ungiven into a deterministic win is incredibly strong and I wanted to experiment with putting it into a more proactive shell. For the uninitiated, the combo in “Slush Puppy” decks consists of casting Intuition into a pile of Lion’s Eye Diamond (LED), Sevinne’s Reclamation and Underworld Breach. You can add Brainfreeze as a 4th card if you’re casting Gifts Ungiven. Regardless of your opponent’s choice you’ll be… Read More »QLD: 7-Point Highlander Tournament Toowoomba Battlestation (33 Players) 20/02/2021 | Deck Lists & Tournament Report

QLD: Toowoomba 7-Point Fortnightly Highlander (13players) 16/02/2021 | Deck Lists & Tournament Report

In preparation for the upcoming Competitive REL event we held a few extra 7 point highlander tournaments over the last month. Just some good old fashioned midrange showed up to play this week. Noted this kind of meta should be a field day for Thoracle and other combo decks like UWR Breach. A few of our players have some very creative ways to fight the combos of both of those decks but we will see how their far those silver bullets can get them this Saturday. Congratuations Ben Nielsen for winning this event with a 4-0 finish he has been… Read More »QLD: Toowoomba 7-Point Fortnightly Highlander (13players) 16/02/2021 | Deck Lists & Tournament Report

SA: Dragon’s Lair Valentine’s Day Adelaide (14 Players) 14/02/2021 | Deck Lists & Tournament Report

Long Live Aggro! The metagame This week’s Adelaide meta was a breath of fresh air. SA saw some interesting developments in the wake of the recent Points Announcement coupled with the new Kaldheim printings. Most importantly, Aggro is back and with a vengeance! Raj took down the event with a clean 4-0 sweep on a Grixis tempo deck with a very Aggro bent, playing 1 drops like Bomat Courier and Goblin Guide to get in early beats and close the game with a traditional burn plan. He was the only person playing Ancestral Recall in the event (for the first… Read More »SA: Dragon’s Lair Valentine’s Day Adelaide (14 Players) 14/02/2021 | Deck Lists & Tournament Report

7 Point Highlander MTGO

MTGO Test League Top 8 Player Profiles Have Arrived!

You can catch the Top 8 of the Test League on Sunday 21st February at 12pm AEDT over at twitch.tv/epicecky. 7 Point Highlander is taking over MTGO! For months community leader (and Points Committee alum) Isaac Egan has been working with community consultation to bring 7 Point Highlander online. Notable work has been done to bring webcam events to our players in 2020 but the competitive aspect of this method is understandably lacking due to the relaxed nature paper webcam matches bring. The idea was simple – jump start the MTGO 7ph community with a free event and fabulous prizes!… Read More »MTGO Test League Top 8 Player Profiles Have Arrived!
